Nampalys, 24, has agreed terms on a four-year contract and will become Leicester City’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of and .

Speaking to LCFC.com, Mendy said: “I am very happy to come to Leicester City. The team have just enjoyed a great season and it’s excellent to be here. For me I want to play at this level. I like the Premier League and I follow every match. It’s fast and physical and I want to impose myself on the league.

“I know the coach (Claudio Ranieri), I know his mentality and I know his philosophy. When he speaks it’s direct and clear and for me I like this."

A central midfielder regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in France, Mendy last season helped guide Nice to an impressive fourth-placed finish in Ligue 1, playing in every game.

He started his career with AS Monaco, playing a key role in helping the club win promotion to Ligue 1 under Claudio Ranieri during the 2012/13 campaign, before moving to Nice as a free agent that summer.

In total Mendy has appeared 200 times for Nice across three seasons, during which he helped them improve to 17th, 11th and fourth placed finishes across those campaigns – as well as Europa League qualification last term.

An energetic and combative presence in the middle of the park, Mendy will add competition to City’s already talented central midfield contingent.

The opportunity to work with Ranieri came during a breakthrough season for Mendy who, at the age of just 20, made 36 appearances under the Italian as a resurgent Monaco won the Ligue 2 title in 2013.

Such early promise and poise earned him international recognition with France at Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 levels.
